This book takes a look at one of the world's most influential corporations. It discusses the ways in which Disney has shaped certain images of public memory and how it has produced children as consuming subjects. This source will help to demonstrate my argument that Disney films contain religious themes. For instance, this books shows how Disney appears to be innocent in its entertainment, while simultaneously influencing consumers with its religious parallels. 

 

 

Pinksy, Mark . The Gospel According to Disney: Faith, Trust and Pixie Dust. Louisville: Westminsiter John Knox Press, 2004. Print.  

 

This book offers an overview of the relationship between religion and Disney. Pinsky explores the role that Disney has played in the moral, spiritual, and religious development of children. This source is particularly useful to me because it explores the moral and religious themes and symbolism in The Lion King and Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. 

 

 

Ferraiuolo, Perucci “Disney and the Bible: A Scriptural Critique of the Magic Kingdom.” Camp Hill, Pennsylvania: Horizon Books, 1996. Print. 

 

This book documents Disney’s trends, tendencies, policies, and, agenda in relation to the Bible. This source will help me explain why Disney plants underlying religious themes in their films.

This article compares Disney’s construction of “fantasy” with the generation of “religion” as a category. This article presents information that came out of a conference that was held in Orlando. This article is useful to my webpage as it provides further background information on the relationship of Disney and religion.

It discusses an Disney’s apparent obsession with death. Mufasa's death in The Lion King plays a significant role in the film. This article will strengthen my discussion on the theme of death and resurrection.

This article examines racism. Many people hold the assumption that many of the evil characters in Disney films represent other races. I will use this article to argue that evil characters are not representative of other races, rather they represent evil biblical characters such as “Satan.”
